Windham County is one of Connecticut’s most unique regions, with homes ranging from brand-new construction to properties built before the United States was even founded. While that history and character are part of what makes these homes special, they can also come with challenges that require a trained eye.

During a home inspection, I pay close attention to issues commonly found in our area, including pyrrhotite-related foundation concerns, outdated electrical systems such as knob-and-tube wiring, aluminum branch-circuit wiring, aging plumbing materials, and suspected asbestos-containing materials that were commonly used in older homes. Many properties have been updated over the decades, often resulting in multiple generations of building materials and repair methods existing under the same roof.

Understanding how these systems have evolved over time is critical to evaluating a home’s condition. My goal is to identify significant defects, safety concerns, and maintenance needs so you can move forward with confidence, knowing that important issues haven’t been overlooked.
